Below is the photo of the dogs at the Zoo with the stuffed Lion. I told you the lion was big!!

As you can see Flecha (big dog on right) still doesn’t completely trust the stuffed lion, Zanna (next to Flecha) looks like a monkey and Tieka, who just got back from the hairdressers, is the bravest of the lot! And my mother is looking so proud at them, like a proper Grandmother should.

Tomorrow (today actually as its past midnight) we are going to the zoo again. It’s a nice way to say goodbye to the summer and hello to autumn. We use any excuse to go.

Today is the 30th of September so I would like to wish my nephew Blair who lives in New Zealand a VERY HAPPY BIRHTDAY!!!

Zannas birthday at the zoo

I have my computer back!!

Today is a very special day. It’s Zanna, Zohra and Ziegor’s birthday!!! They are now 2 years old.

To celebrate Zanna’s birthday I took my mother and dogs to the zoo. It was truly a wonderful day, the weather was great, it wasn’t too busy at the zoo and the animals showed us some unexpected behavior that we had never seen before. Actually each time we go to the zoo we always seem to see something new.

First the 3 dogs and “grandma” got their photo taken with a huge (nearly life size) toy stuffed lion. Flecha didn’t trust him at all; he first thought it was the real thing Hahaha. So did Zanna and Tieka but they settled down quickly when I patted the toy on its nose. The photo turned out really neat and I hope to find someone soon that can scan it in for me so I can show you.

At the Japanese crane birds enclosure we sat on a bench to watch them. They aren’t particularly exciting birds at first glance and most people just take a quick look in passing. But we decided to sit and watch them while listening to the soft Japanese background music. The dogs basked in the sun while my mother and I watched the birds, it was quiet… and then….. the birds started to do their “love dance” and jumped and bobbed up and down, some times picking up a leaf or a feather in their long beak and throw it in the air!! Then they would jump around in a circle, ran a short distance and do it all again. It was wonderful to see! When the next zoo visitors came they stopped. Mum and I sat in smug silence that we had witnessed such a beautiful intermit moment with these birds.

We saw a huge lizard that was about 1 and a half meters, who has lived at the zoo for quite a few years, finally do its thing and climb a 90degree wall made of lava stones with out any effort at all.

We had a very good chat with an extremely pregnant donkey. Zanna and Tieka gave a polite hello to her and Flecha gave her a very big nose kiss.

The camels couldn’t believe their eyes when we arrived and came up close to stare at us for as long as we cared to stay put. We made their day LOL.

The ring tail monkeys are always a big success. When the dogs come up close they always rush up chattering making looking at them so much easier.

When we arrive at most of the animals windows there are usually no other humans around but when we leave it is almost always busy with humans as they can finally see the animals that the dogs attracted up close.

As the dogs always get wonderful Barf meals I cant say they got an extra special meal, but perhaps I did put in some extra effort as Zanna seemed extra pleased with her meal.

It was a great day today.
