The love birds Flecha and Tieka the love birds

Oh dear… love is in the air….

Tieka came into season a few weeks ago and judging by Flecha she is ready to be mated!

No, Tieka isn’t going to be mated… but she would love to be Ha, ha, ha.

Tieka always pesters Flecha to be her lover for very many days, actually weeks, when she is in season…. Even though Flecha was castrated about 4 years ago he still has his manly instincts and he knows when she is not yet in the top days that will give a successful mating. When she is he usually smells her much more often and that’s about it.

But today things were different! Flecha must love mature women and during our bush walk he played Romeo for Tieka the whole time. It was so cute.

He is about 4 times bigger than Tieka but he is so gentle with his women. As Tieka flirted in front of him he played the perfect gentleman, bending down to play with her and rub muzzles. They ran together, pawed each other and drove Zanna crazy as she couldn’t stand not being able to join in the fun.

Then to my huge surprise Flecha actually wanted to mount Tieka! Even this he did with the utmost love and care. It was truly amazing how such a big dog can be so gentle with such a small dog. Don’t worry, it didn’t amount to anything. I would have yelled like mad if I had of thought it was getting out of control Ha, ha, ha.

The love bugs have calmed down now that we are at home. They are sleeping together after such and exhausting walk.

I wish I had a digital camera so I could make a photo of my Lagotti girls when they sometimes sit next to me on the passenger seat in the car. I think they are so funny!!!

They sit flat on their bottoms looking around as if they are little people. Its hilarious, I just can’t help myself and have to laugh.

They are sort of a mixture of innocent arrogance, a look of interest in which direction we are going with a hint of a look of what I think they are thinking of “are you laughing at me?” Ha, ha even while I write this I have to giggle just thinking of them sitting there.

Its all very bad the way my dogs are treated…. Sitting next to me in the car, being aloud to sit on the chairs in the house…. And yes even half of my bed is theirs. But I must say that they know they have to stick to their side of the bed. I have such nice bed covers that I never get to see as I have big “dog blankets” and large old curtains covering their side of the bed.

These days Zanna is even more cuddly… She is a real mummy’s baby and loves to be near me all the time. Not in an annoying way, she is actually very subtle in her closeness. So subtle that I often can’t find her as she walks beside/behind me in a way that I just don’t see her. I feel very foolish calling her and then discovering that she was behind me all the time. I recon that she dose this on purpose and when I look for her she dodges from side to side so as not to be seen.. But I can’t prove it as I’m always alone so can’t ask a witness. She looks very innocent but I’m sure that’s her sense of humor making fun of me.

What Zanna likes to lay very close to me in bed. But I don’t like pressure points on me when I lay in bed and I make this quite clear to the dogs, even in my sleep, so they don’t even try to lay next to me these days. But Zanna has found out that my head appears to be “feelingliss” and these days I often wake up to find her laying against, and sometimes on, my head!!! I must admit it’s nice and warm. And she smells nice, a bit like a sheep skin. Ok, strange but true.

Lately I look at Zanna and wonder what sort of mother she will be. She is such a funny little dog and I can’t imagine her yet with puppies. Perhaps its because she was breed here and I still see her as Tieka’s puppy. But Zanna is the perfect age to have pups of her own now so I guess I will have to open my eyes had have to admit she is a big girl now….

Here are 2 photos of Zanna at her "baby sit home" last week. She stayed there for a week and you can see that she had an awful time with her aunte Rita and uncle Joop and there cute little dog Luna.
