As every year the biggest dog show in Holland, the Winner, was held. This time 25 and 26November.

Saturday was the day that Kiwi showed. She is such a terrific girl, maybe not the most beautiful but she surly is the most happy and clown like. All day she was very well behaved while waiting for her turn in the ring.
I thought she would be feed up after such a long wait but this was far from the truth. She pranced and glowed every second we were in the ring and I am just so proud of her. She ended up with a “very good”, but from me she got excellent ;-)

On Sunday it was the Lagotti turn. I did not enter any of my own girls but Cash, a puppy from Zanna’s last litter, was entered.
A friend of mine and I thought we arrived in time at the show but Murphy’s law showed its ugly head and Cash was the first dog of the day to be shown in the ring and we just got to see him and his owner leave the ring. I was so disappointed that we missed him. But all the people I know that did see him “trot his stuff” said he did so wonderful, he is not only a handsome little guy but also a very happy and friendly one! His owner can be very proud of herself for doing such a good job with him! Cash was best puppy, but also the only one haha. He got the highest mark as “very promising”. A great day!!!
2 of Ineke van Rappard, from Tio Babes kennel, own breed dogs did excellent by winning “youth winner” and “Winnster”. Many congratulations to her for breeding so well and such nice character dogs!
Bonebreakers kennel from Sweden came with their gorgeous dogs and won overall best male and best female, and this beautiful girl went on to win best in breed. Våfflan then went on to win best in group! What a girl!!! Many congratulations to Karin Eriksson who travelled so far but it was really worth it.

Unfortunately there were some Lagotti that showed les than desirable characters, one even going so far at so bite the judge. I am pleased to say they were not from kennels that I am proud to be associated with.

I did not take my camera to the show but there are lovely ones on the Bonebreakers site http://www.lagottoromagnolo.se/bonebreakers/index2.html .
Show results will be published at www.lagotto.nl in a few days.

This news is a week old as I didn’t have time to do this before. It’s been for a good reason as this last week I have either been working, walking dogs, painting my house, looking after the working men that are fixing my home and last but not least a bit of sleep here and there. There is still lots more to do but I have more time to update you with dog news.

Last Wednesday afternoon, 8 November, we had a “Kakapo nest” walk.
We do this every few months with any “Kakapo’ers” that like to and have the time. A few “out-siders” but true Lagotto lovers also come with us. I think it’s an honour they like to join us. Unfortunately any day we pick there are all ways people that cant make it but this time we had a good turn out with 10 people and 17 dogs (4 other breeds and 13 Lagotti!!!).

The walk was at a very dog friendly place near Apeldoorn. Any Dutchies looking for a good place to walk with your dogs here you can visit their site http://www.hetleesten.nl/

I’m quite proud I remembered to take my camera and actually took photos during the walk. I forgot to take photos of us having a drink and a bite to eat after the walk while the dogs behaved themselves wonderfully.

Now an impression of the day.

Dono and Kiwi in the back of my car looking forward to arriving at our destination.

Countless dogs

Halfway though the walk we found a picnic table, an ideal place for a family photo but getting 13 Lagotti in one place at the same time was impossible. But we didn’t do too bad, 10 was the highest count.
Note the subtle hand signals to keep the dogs on the table ;-)

It was a lovely place to walk with the autumn colours making it even more beautiful.
